Terms.

The rules of using Leading Edge - accounts, content, coaching, events and the one thing above all: wingsuiting is dangerous, and this site is guidance, not instruction.

Last updated: 29 August 2026

These terms govern your use of leadingedge.ws and everything on it — the articles, guides, podcast, coach directory, events, participant hubs and the members' area (together, "the site"). By using the site or creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Our privacy notice explains what personal information we hold and why; it forms part of these terms.

The most important section: safety

Wingsuit flying is inherently dangerous. It can result in serious injury or death, even when everything is done correctly.

Everything on this site — articles, guides, videos, the progression path, badge descriptions, suit categorisations and manufacturer recommendations — is general information and guidance, not instruction. It is not a substitute for professional coaching, your national governing body's rules, your drop zone's procedures, or the manufacturer's manual for your equipment.

Badges awarded through our progression system are a coaching record, not a licence, rating or qualification of any kind. They confer no permission to jump anything, anywhere. Decisions about what you fly, where and with whom sit with you, your coach and the organisations that actually govern your jumping.

You take part in the sport entirely at your own risk. Nothing on this site changes that.

Who we are

Leading Edge ("we", "us") operates leadingedge.ws. For anything to do with these terms, email team@leadingedge.ws.

Your account

  • Keep your sign-in details to yourself. What happens through your account is your responsibility, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.
  • Give us accurate information, and keep your email address current — it is how we reach you about your account.
  • New registrations are reviewed before they can sign in, and roles such as coach or organiser are granted at our discretion. We may decline, suspend or remove an account or role where these terms are broken, where safety or trust requires it, or where an account is plainly inactive or fraudulent.
  • You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing us.

Coaches and the directory

Coaches listed on this site are independent people, not our employees, agents or partners. The directory and enquiry forms exist to connect you; any coaching that follows — its terms, price, quality and safety — is an arrangement between you and the coach.

Coach ratings shown on the site (suit classes, specialist flags and similar) reflect our community's internal assessment process. They are made in good faith but are not a guarantee of any outcome, and they do not replace the qualifications your national body requires.

If you are a coach: keep your profile truthful, hold the real-world qualifications and insurance your jurisdiction requires, and award badges honestly. Signing off progression you have not personally verified is grounds for removal.

Events and participant hubs

Events listed on the site are run by their organisers, not by us. Registration, payment, insurance and safety at an event are matters between you and the organiser.

Participant hubs let people at an event share photos and videos. By uploading to a hub you confirm you have the right to share that material and that the people in it would not object. Everything on a hub is permanently deleted 30 days after the event ends — download what you want to keep. Organisers can remove material sooner, and so can we. If footage of you appears somewhere you don't want it, email us and we will take it down.

Your content

You keep ownership of anything you upload or write — articles, photos, videos, profile text. By putting it on the site you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and share it as part of running and promoting the site, for as long as it is on the site. Photos promoted to the homepage gallery stay until removed; ask and we will take yours down.

Don't upload anything you don't have the rights to, anything unlawful, or anything that identifies private individuals who would object.

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • misuse the enquiry forms, newsletter or any other feature to spam, harass or deceive;
  • attempt to access accounts, folders or documents your role doesn't give you;
  • scrape, harvest or republish members' personal information;
  • probe, overload or attack the site's security — if you find a vulnerability, email us instead;
  • impersonate another person, coach or organisation.

We may remove content or restrict accounts that break these rules, with or without notice depending on severity.

Our content

The site's own material — our articles, guides, designs, badge artwork and branding — belongs to us or our licensors. You're welcome to link to it and to share short excerpts with credit; don't republish substantial parts or pass it off as your own. Manufacturer names, suit names and logos belong to their owners; appearing here doesn't imply their endorsement.

Availability and changes

The site is provided "as is". We work to keep it fast, accurate and available, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend or retire features at any time. Content — including suit categorisations and manufacturer recommendations — can go out of date; always verify against the manufacturer and your governing body.

Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that: we are not liable for the acts or omissions of coaches, organisers or other members; for your participation in wingsuiting or any other sport; for user-uploaded content; for loss of data you chose not to download before its scheduled deletion; or for indirect or consequential loss. Your use of information on this site is at your own risk, as set out in the safety section above — that section is the heart of these terms and survives everything else.

Ending things

You can stop using the site, or ask us to delete your account, whenever you like. We can suspend or end accounts as described above. Sections which by their nature should survive — safety, liability, content licences already exercised — survive termination.

General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction — though if you live elsewhere in the UK or the EEA you keep any protections your local law gives you. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. These terms are the whole agreement between us about the site.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves. Changes are posted on this page with the date above updated; material changes will be flagged on the site and emailed to members. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
